There are so many great artists that can convey emotion so well, and German artist Käthe Kollwitz was a printmaker that took dense black and white prints and pushed the visual to connect all sorts of emotion with her audience.
Telling the concept of Anguish, I aimed to make a DEATH METAL album–from imaginary band House of Ruin–using her images to formulate the passing of connections and the consuming nature of loneliness. Honing in on print-styled typography, the fonts used were designed in a manner that didn’t take away from the imagery or become distracting–almost pairing as if they were originals together.
